ROBOTIC WELDING PROCESS

How the Robotic Ultrasonic Welding Process Works

A typical robotic ultrasonic welding cycle moves from part loading and clamping to robot positioning, ultrasonic welding and unloading. Welding paths, sequences and process parameters are programmed for the actual part, while automatic horn change can be integrated when different weld points require different welding horns.

01

Part Loading

Load the automotive plastic component into the dedicated fixture at the working station.

02

Positioning & Clamping

Locate and secure the part using dedicated supports, locating features, clamps or vacuum holding according to the tooling concept.

03

Robot Positioning

The six-axis robot moves the ultrasonic welding tool to each programmed weld position, approach direction and welding angle.

04

Ultrasonic Welding

The robot completes each weld using the programmed welding sequence and parameters. When required, customized welding horns can be changed automatically for different weld positions.

05

Return & Unloading

After the welding sequence is completed, the robot returns to the defined safe position and the finished component is released for unloading.

FLEXIBLE PRODUCTION

Built for Product Variants and Flexible Robotic Production

One robotic ultrasonic welding platform can be configured for compatible product variants through stored programs, changeable tooling and project-specific station layouts.

PRODUCTION FLEXIBILITY

Automotive production may require multiple product variants, different output levels or future model changeovers. The welding cell can therefore be engineered as a flexible production platform rather than a fixed single-part machine.

Compatible fixtures, stored welding programs, station arrangements and changeover concepts are defined around the actual production strategy.

One robotic platform for multiple compatible parts and production scenarios.
01

Product Variants

Compatible product variants can share one robotic welding platform using dedicated or interchangeable fixtures, welding tools and stored recipes.

02

Welding Programs

Robot paths, welding sequences and weld-point parameters can be stored and recalled for different products or production recipes.

03

Single or Dual Station

Single- or dual-station layouts can be selected according to loading strategy, required cycle time and production capacity.

04

Tooling Changeover

Quick-change fixtures, locating mechanisms and project-specific locking systems can support efficient changeover between compatible product variants.
